can't buy your parts?
Many of us have worked to design complicated printed circuit boards. After months of work, our design is finally released to production. Months or years later, we discover that a crucial part of the assembly has gone "Last Time Buy", then Obsolete, and we can't find it anywhere.
Ah, that PCN (Product Change Notice) email went to our overworked purchasing department and fell through the cracks. Now, it's an emergency that engineering has to solve. If it is a cap or a resistor, probably no big deal. But, if it is an IC that was sole-sourced, it might take a board redesign. This could take weeks or months to completely put to bed.
Wouldn't it have been nice to know when the manufacturer put out their PCN?
Wouldn't it be great to have this service at a price that is attainable for any engineer or company, no matter how small?
